Organizers announced that the men’s street skateboarding competition at the Paris Olympics, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed due to heavy rain at the outdoor urban park venue. The competition will now take place on July 29.

A representative from the media center explained that the persistent rain made the street course dangerously slick, preventing the skaters from competing safely.

On Saturday, La Concorde, the large outdoor venue anticipated to host thousands for breaking, skateboarding, BMX freestyle, and 3×3 basketball events, was eerily quiet, with empty stands. Workers navigated the waterlogged grounds as the street course remained slick from the rain.

Meanwhile, the preliminaries and finals for the women’s street skateboarding events are still set to occur at their originally scheduled times: Sunday at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. ET, respectively, on NBCOlympics.com and Peacock.
